I think many in the media are missing a very important point. My research shows that there are between 218,959,000 and 231,556,622 people eligible to vote depending on where you look. There is also some evidence that over 90,000,000 eligible voters did not vote. In addition, 61,898,584 voted for Trump, 63,551,979 voted for Hilary, Gary Johnson 4,360,873 votes, Dr. Jill Stein 1,357,013 votes, Evan McMullin 747,993 votes, Write ins 545,048 votes, and Other 437,963 votes.

I have heard over and over from various media and from the Trump administration that what he is doing is what the American people want. If I add up all the votes that did not go to Trump and went to others the total is 71,000.869 votes.

To make my point, I will take the low end number of eligible people who could vote: 218.959,000. If I add the 90 million, which could be more, that did not vote, and we don’t know what they supported, to 71,000,869 who did not vote for Trump but voted for someone else. The total is 161,000,869 American voters who did not sign up for the unilateral changes that Trump is creating.

My question is: How can the media or the Trump administration continue to say that a majority of people wanted the actions and changes that the Trump administration is proposing and making without push back. My conclusion is a majority of Americans did not support the Trump agenda.

All Americans need a voice. He is only speaking to his base, not the American people.

I feel run over so to speak. We are now dependent on the Democrats standing up in order to lend a voice to what we want for America. He does not have a mandate to redo everything because he made promises to his base and won the election. It is not winner takes all. Obama had huge support for many things Democrats wanted him to do, but he did not push through all that we wanted. Many of us wanted more but he tried to work with the Republicans even though they wanted him to fail and be a one term president.

How can the media say Trump should get what he wants because the “American people” spoke to support what he is doing? A majority of us did not support him. How can the media say that he should get his picks if they are selections that basically want to gut the agencies they will head, have little experience for that agency and do Trump’s bidding? We are out here in big numbers and we do not want what he is doing to tear up our country.

We do not want to become a mean spirited and selfish country. Trump has no moral code. He is only interested in aggrandizing himself. For example, the majority does not want the EPA destroyed. What about Flint and places that are polluted and making people sick and destroying our environment for future generations? What about Black Lung and the coal miners suffering without adequate safety regulations or adequate health coverage treatment? He wants to reactivate the mines, but I bet the workers will not be protected. What about the health and safety hazards from 911 that have affected workers, search dogs and volunteers who died or got sick and need treatment for the rest of their lives in some cases? The Republicans have worked against helping them. What about education being privatized and unhealthy schools? What about securing Social Security and Medicare? What about protecting the National Parks and government held lands? The Democrats have a few tools right now and they need to fight for us whenever and however they can. They will be ridiculed by the right and by the Republicans, but they are not wrong to resist and fight for a better future for all of us. We are a majority of Americans that want this country to be on a better path and we are afraid for the soul of our country.
